SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, BUILDING & DESIGN
Assignment 1: Built Environment and Environmental Impact
For project 1, we first form a group of 5 and be assigned to ONE MAIN environmental theme from the list below: which ours is • Climate Change and Ozone Loss • Then, find 7-10 articles, latest journal , possibility e-journal that support the theme assigned to our group
We are required to carry out a detailed in-depth literature review of subject matter . The review is to include analysis of the researched topic, identify and explain the relevant SDG goals that are relevant. This is to understand the impact or issues better, do cross reference and highlight relevant laws, policies, standards, or guidelines that are associated with environment and construction or built environment.

We are to create an attractive living poster using software include URL links to their key research i.e., an article they have written, extracts from their reflective diary, video articulating their ontological values in practice, their website etc. and contact details to share their research journey. The power of images, video, together with the text and linked documents will communicate our understanding of the researched topic and additionally the living poster can be used to create awareness of the environmental impacts caused by built environment or construction.
Sustainable Design, Policies and Regulations
Review of Environmental Impacts that are directly or indirectly associated with Built Environment using e Living Poster
This module introduces students to environmental issues and provides some in-depth understanding of the complexities and influences that built environment causes to the natural environment. The module intent s to instill environmental literacy and understandings of policies related to sustainable design and practices.
Assignment 2: Exploring local architecture or built environment responses to specific SDG goals and targets Assessments
This project allows you to explore how architecture can provide the basis towards meeting several Sustainable Design Goals. Designer can provide basic ideas and proposal for regulation that makes it possible for sustainable communities. Working in partnership, designers can facilitate the open dialogue to provide solutions as a way forward. The 17 SDG goals define the challenges that need to be addressed to achieve a better and more sustainable future. Leaving no one behind, the world must move towards achieve these goals by 2030. This includes the built environment particularly the architecture practice that is associated with every goal, importantly not at aspirational level, but through realized (real life) buildings, settlements, cities, and strategies locally. To evident this statement tangibly and to demonstrate how built environment/architectural responses to these goals you are required to document realized cases of architecture, planning, and structures with the aim of understanding the Goals as they relate to architecture/built environment. Each one of the documented cases will form a basis to start a conservation on how the built environment can contribute to a particular goal
Reflection
Sustainable Design, Policies and Regulations was a very interesting module, I really enjoyed a lot. To me this module, I feel like it is be a very useful knowledge to acquire for future use in my career. I was surprised to find myself really interested in sustainable living and those interesting buildings that implements green architecture really inspires me. I really do see the huge impact that could have on the environment if more people possessed the knowledge and understanding. After taking up this module, I have deep understanding of methods, whether from law or organization to mitigate the harmful impact on earth, especially regulations and guideline set by government. SDG are fairly important as it build a humane, resilient future and align business mandate with ethical responsibility. Diamond building was an excellent example that I look up to and it really gave me the insight of the benefits that outweigh the cons, which was often misunderstood by many. I hope to learn more about the sustainable, the impact that has on Earth or even better new or wider opportunities to make a change to our planet.
